Helmets
Breakaway Bicycles firmly believes that helmets are essential! We see testimony that helmets save lives! Fortunately we stock a huge variety of helmets for kids and adults that are ALL light and comfortable. Modern helmets are so light and ventilated and fit so well that you’ll barely know you’re wearing one. We have great inexpensive helmets on up to high end helmets like Lance wears in the Tour. More expensive helmets generally are lighter, have more ventilation, and are available in more sizes to fit you better. We’ll help you find the one that fits the best and we’ll even adjust the straps for you.
Clothing
Bicycle clothing is not just for racers; it actually makes you more comfortable on your bike as well as increases your performance. We all get a sore butt; padded shorts help prevent that. On a hot summer day, moisture wicking materials help you feel cooler. Breakaway Bicycles has a huge stock of clothing from the top brands, from baggy fitting recreational shorts, jerseys and wetsuits to form fitting performance gear.
Shoes
Cycling shoes and pedals that you clip into is perhaps the first upgrade you should consider for your riding. Cycling shoes have a stiffer sole so your foot doesn’t flex around your pedal causing sore feet. They also address the problem of shoe laces in your chain by using Velcro or a lace cover. The biggest benefit comes from the shoes clipping into your pedal; you get more power out of your pedal stroke since you can also pull up on the pedal. Trailers
Got kids? Like to bike? Bring them with you! Kids absolutely love riding in child trailers and they’re fun and safe. Breakaway Bicycles stocks lots of different models with varying features and performance. Nicer trailers are lighter and are convertible to strollers or joggers. All of our child trailers have a five point harness and won’t tip if the bike does. Most of them will hold up to two children. Come on in and check them out.
